Launched in 2004, the Triumph Rocket III has stood out for its power ever since, with torque and power superior to any other model in the competition. Last year, the Rocket 3 R entered the Brazilian market, completely renovated. Now a new model arrives at dealers expanding the line in the country, the Rocket 3 GT, in Sapphire Black – despite the pompous name it’s just a sort of pearl black.

The first batch of the new Rocket 3 GT has sold out completely, but the Triumph network is already organizing a queue for the next batch of the bike, which should hit stores in early 2023. The new Rocket 3 GT costs R$129,990, while the Rocket 3 R retails for $123,490. Also in October, a new color for the Rocket 3 R, Matt Silver Ice (grey), arrives at dealers nationwide.

The two Rocket 3 models share the world’s largest series production motorcycle engine. At 2,500 cc, the triple engine (a Triumph specialty) offers 167 hp at 6,000 rpm and 22.5 kgfm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

To get an idea of the power, the Chevrolet Cruze Sport6 RS delivers close numbers: 153 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 24.5 kgfm at 2,000 rpm, when fueled with ethanol. But the average hatch weighs 1,336 kilograms, more than a ton more compared to the Rocket 3 GT (294 kilograms).

Although the bike, despite being impressive, is already known in the national market, the main difference of the new Rocket 3 GT is its style which offers more comfort when riding, making it a touring bike – that is, recommended for long rides. rides.

CAST ALUMINUM WHEELS

Among the novelties presented by the model, the highlight is the multi-spoke cast aluminum wheels with visible machining on the rim. Like the Rocket 3 R, the GT is equipped with specially developed Avon Cobra Chrome tires with an impressive rear wheel width of 240 millimeters. The tires have beautiful details and offer a lot of grip and high durability.

As is typical for a touring bike, the new Rocket 3 GT also comes with a longer handlebar, which offers more comfort and more options when travelling. On the Rocket 3 R, the steering wheel is roadster style.

The Rocket 3 GT has a lower seat height of 75 centimeters (compared to 77.3 centimeters on the Rocket 3 R), which increases driving and passenger comfort. By the way, in the new model, the passenger seat has a brushed aluminum backrest. Two-way heating handles are standard on the new model – optional on the Rocket 3 R.

The three-manifold exhaust system is an iconic design detail on the Rocket 3. It has been innovatively designed to route the exhausts, which flow from the manifold to the combi-catalyst box and to the muffler with three outlets, creating a “sound” of deep snoring, distinctive and unique.

The hydraulic clutch allows the rider to take a light action when shifting. In addition, the Rocket 3’s powerful 6-speed helical gearbox is designed to be smoother, stronger and lighter than a standard gearbox, increasing torque output.

LIQUID REFRIGERATION

The Rocket 3’s engine features advanced technologies such as the Ride By Wire gear system, as well as liquid cooling built into the bike, to deliver better performance and a more efficient ride.

With details such as the new dual LED headlight, including the brand’s triangular emblem, and the sculpted three-manifold exhaust system, the Rocket 3 has a commanding presence across its two models.

The brushed stainless steel fuel tank features a brushed aluminum oil cap, machined fins on the crankcases, brushed heat shields and elegant flip-up concealed pillion passenger footrests with a unique folding design.

The bike has a high-quality, mass-optimized aluminum chassis with a design that contributes to an overall weight saving while still offering a better torque-to-weight ratio.

The model also has a fully adjustable Showa monoshock rear suspension with piggyback reservoir (adjustable rebound, compression and preload) and 47mm adjustable Showa forks (with rebound and compression adjustments).

The Brembo Stylema brake callipers round off the high-quality technical innovation. Popularly known as the Quickshifter, the Triumph Shift Assist allows clutchless up and down shifts, reducing rider effort and fatigue and improving the overall riding experience and shift times. The feature is optional.
