The São Francisco do Sul Film Festival starts this Wednesday

The festival is held in the historic center of São Francisco do Sul with exhibition activities at Cine Teatro X de Novembro.

São Francisco do Sul Film Festival (SC) has a free program full of workshops, lectures and screening of 31 films in nine sessions

The third oldest city in Brazil, São Francisco do Sul (SC), will host from next Wednesday (25) the first edition of the Latin American audiovisual festival – FALA São Chico, dedicated to documentaries that unite cinema and history.

The festival’s four-day program includes workshops, lectures, music performances and cultural activities in the historic center of São Francisco do Sul, with all activities being free.

A total of 31 films will be screened, from seven countries, with 26 productions in competition and five invited films, spread over nine cinema sessions. Two competitive exhibitions are part of FALA 2022, children’s and short films (starring Curtas Catarinense and Latinos) and the public will also choose the film that will win the Panvision trophy chosen by the popular jury. The official jury chooses the best films they win, in addition to the trophy, products and services from partner companies that together bring in more than R$25 thousand in prizes.

The training activities will take place at the São Francisco do Sul Business Association (ACISFS) and at the Ester dos Passos Rosa Cultural Center. To participate it is necessary to register in advance via the platform www.sympl.com.br/panvision

Documentaries from seven countries are among the 26 films selected for the festival’s competitive screenings. They will be on screen at Cine Teatro X in November. The schedules of each film and the indicative rating of each session can be checked at https://falasaochico.com.br/programacao2022.

Guest movies

Five films were invited to FALA 2022. Four of them are part of the special Environment session, on Saturday, May 28, and will be screened with accessibility features, subtitles, LIBRAS and audio description: the animations Assum Preto, by Bako Machado (PE ), Por Dentro das Árvores, by Francisco de Paula (SP), Teo, o Menino Azul, by Hygor Amorim (SP) and the fiction Olho Além do Ouvido, by Bruna Schelb Corrêa and Luis Bocchino (MG).

The program ends on Saturday evening with the award ceremony and screening at 8.30 pm of the feature film Diário Dentro da Noite, directed by actor, playwright, producer and painter, Chico Diaz.

Training Activities

On Thursday the 26th, the workshops will begin with Almudena Muñoz, a doctor of audiovisual communication, researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid – Spain, who will address “Research in Documentary”. On Thursday (27), the festival also welcomes the Argentine journalist, production manager of Acequia TV de Mendoza, Sérgio Romero, with “Documentary with Cellular”; and the workshop “Audiovisual for Small Entrepreneurs”, given in collaboration with SEBRAE, by communication specialist Fê Moreira. Finally, on Saturday (28) filmmaker and art educator Fabrício Borges will talk about “Filmmaking in the school environment”.

Musical Performances

Every day, from 6.30 pm, local musicians perform on a cozy stage in front of Cine Teatro X de Novembro.

At the opening, on the 25th, Patrícia Menezes and guests Kelwin Grochowicz and Djavan Renato. On Thursday (26) Clara Costa and Guest. On Friday (27) Banda sem Vozz will perform. And ending on Saturday (28), Banda Kaiçara – Reuel Silva, Piassava MC and Mário Negreth.

OAB/SC wins 50% adjustment for dative advocacy
