Fortaleza (CE) – From Sunday to Tuesday (24), Fortaleza will host the IX Annual Meeting of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce. The program will take place in the hotel Vila Galé, where meetings and regular board meetings, lectures and internal meetings will be held in the hybrid model, with the participation of representatives of the 18 existing chambers of commerce in Brazil and of Portuguese chambers of 22 countries (of which seven with representatives in Fortaleza), and with simultaneous transmission in virtual format.
A delegation from the Government of Portugal is also in Fortaleza to participate in the event, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Bernardo Ivo Cruz, and the Secretary of State for Economy, João Neves, in addition to the Portuguese Ambassador to Brazil, Luís Faro branches . The meeting will also count on the participation of Portuguese and Brazilian interlocutors who will contribute to the success and relevance of the meeting.
This is the first world meeting of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce to be held after two years of pandemic. The chambers of Russia, Switzerland and Vietnam competed to host the event, but the choice was made by Brazil and in favor of the city of Fortaleza, which maintains an entity in the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Portugal in Ceará (CBP-CE). with more than 20 years of experience to strengthen the business between the two countries. In addition, Ceará currently holds the headquarters of the Federation of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce in Brazil (FCPCB). The Presidents of the CBP-CE, Eugênio Vieira Filho, and of the FCPCB, Armando Abreu, and the Vice-Consul of Portugal in Fortaleza, Ana Cristina Pedroso, will host the delegations present at the annual meeting of the Rooms.
Debates, deliberations, lectures and technical visits
The IX Annual Meeting of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce will include closed meetings of the Board of Directors on Monday (23) and Tuesday (24) to deliberate on topics relevant to the members of the Chambers, including the presentation of the new chambers of the network and the statute of public utility. Next Monday (23) at 12:00, the program also includes the lecture “The role of chambers in the internationalization process”, which will be given by Professor Bernardo Ivo Cruz, the current Secretary of State for Internationalization of Portugal. On Tuesday (24) at 9:00 am, the participants of the meeting will follow the lecture “The influence of the Portuguese language on international trade and investment – history and future projection” given by Paulo Portas, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Portugal.
Representatives of national and international chambers will also participate in a special program that includes visits to the Dragão do Mar Center for Art and Culture and other cultural facilities in the Praia de Iracema region and the center of Fortaleza, relationship lunches, a visit to the Industrial and Port van Pecém – CIPP, in addition to a fraternization dinner for the Portuguese Chambers, which concludes the program of the IX Meeting.
Businessman Armando Abreu, president of the Federation of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce in Brazil (FCPCB), emphasized the importance of the meeting. “This meeting to be held in Fortaleza is the culmination of the work of the Ceará Chamber and the Federation. The last meeting of the Chambers in person took place in Morocco, in 2019, and unfortunately we were unable to hold this meeting for the following years due to the pandemic. We now have the pleasure of hosting representatives of Chambers of Commerce from around the world here in Ceará. It is an excellent opportunity for us to discuss the problems that exist in the daily life of the Chambers and the relevant role they play in internationalization, in addition to exchanging experiences. I would also like to point out the presence of an official delegation from the Portuguese Government, headed by the Portuguese Ambassador to Brazil, Luís Faro Ramos, as well as the presence of the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, João Neves, and the Minister of State for Internationalization Bernardo Ivo Cross. It will be a great opportunity for Ceará to promote itself in the fields of economy, trade and investment.”
The lawyer Eugênio Vieira Filho, President of the Brazil-Portugal Chamber in Ceará (CBP-
CE), emphasizes the role of the event for commercial relationships and business generation. “During this meeting, we will have meetings where various topics related to the interaction of the Portuguese chambers network in the world will be discussed, with the aim of promoting business, trade and tourism, and we will also present a series of lectures on topics that related to doing business in Portuguese”.
The event is limited to invitees, and some activities are exclusive to the directors.
