Do you want to travel through Brazil? Tripsz connects customers interested in bus travel with travel agencies

What are you doing:
It is a traveltech that connects customers through its app with travel agencies that offer trips and packages to cities in Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.

what problem does it solve?
For small and medium-sized agencies, it provides technological innovation with a more efficient tool than social networking or the need to create a website for these companies to prospect. In addition to promoting these agencies’ excursions (categorized into Adventure, Culture, Party, Parks, Beaches, Romance, Trails, and Travel with Lodging), it offers customers better in-app payment methods, without compromising cash flow. Tripsz has a digital account into which the amounts paid by travelers are advanced. For customers, it gives access to dozens of verified travel agencies and tours in one app, in an easy, secure way and with benefits such as cashback. The company also allows payment by credit card in up to 12 installments, Pix and Boleto.

What makes it special:
According to the founders, the safety provided to travelers in researching and hiring trips, with verified agencies in Cadastur, is from the Ministry of Tourism, which is what makes the startup special. Other differences include the ability for customers to compare prices and destinations and the different payment methods, offering a personalized dashboard for travel agents to manage travel, and the ability to anticipate payments and talk to their target audience.

Business model:
Tripsz operates as a B2B2C marketplace. Its customers are travel agents on the one hand and travelers on the other. The startup is awarded for every sale made in the app, with a margin of 5 to 16%.

Laura Guedes — CEO and co-founder
Paloma Araújo—CTO and Co-Founder

Laura Guedes 25 years, Sao Paulo (SP) – It’s formed in advertising from PUC Minas and a postgraduate degree in management, entrepreneurship and marketing from PUC-RS. He founded Lafhe, an urban mobility and sharing economy company, and worked as a marketing consultant for companies such as Mercantil do Brasil and Mafra Informática.

Paloma Araujo 25 years, Cove Bupe (BA) – is formed in Science and Technology from Universidade Federal do ABC and is studying an MBA in Cloud Computing at Faculdade de Tecnologia FIAP. She works as a Software Engineer at Itaú.

How it came:
Lauro has always been passionate about travel and says that while visiting Chile in 2018, he realized that one of the tours couldn’t be done by Uber or a regular bus. To do that, he would have to find a travel agency. At that point, he wondered how he would find a safe and reliable agency, and how he would compare prices and options. He says he checked out tourism publications on YouTube and found local blogs where he compared the offerings. Still, I felt that something was missing to facilitate this quest. As a lover of technology and startups, he came up with the idea to start Tripsz, because he realized that there was a gap in this market, especially in Brazil. Back in the country, in January 2020, he started developing the company’s MVP. In March, the pandemic came and the project was halted. Shortly after, he met Paloma online and set up a conversation to continue development. In January 2021, they already had a first version of the two apps, that of travelers and that of travel agents, with which the company launched in February.

Current stage:
Tripsz works remotely, with a team of five people has more than 17 thousand users registered on the app, 80 partner agencies and about 630 packages available. The valuation of the startup is currently 3 million reais, according to the CEO.

The business was accelerated by Sebrae’s Startups SP and Stars Acceleradora.

Investment received:
Stars invested 225 thousand reais in the company.

Investment need:
The startup has an open round and wants to raise 650 thousand reais.

Market and competitors:
“Tourism is a huge market in Brazil, but with few technological solutions. Our direct competitors are: Vou de Trip, Sagtur, Easy Travel Shop and P2D. The indirect ones are the social networks themselves, which today concentrate travel and travel agencies,” says Lauro.

Biggest Challenges:
“We believe the biggest challenge is getting travelers and travel agents, used to interacting through Facebook groups and social networks, to do this in the app,” said the CEO.

“In these first months of 2022, we have already moved about 80% of the entire year 2021.”

Break Even Prediction:
In 18 months, with a new investment round.

Future vision:
“Our goal is to be in other cities in the next three years, besides the state of São Paulo. Our first goal is to serve the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. Our estimate is to have 6 thousand partner agencies and 1 million registered users. We want to position ourselves as the largest tour marketplace in Brazil, operating in the main states of the country,” said Lauro.
